ATITHI WELFARE ASSOCIATION is a not-for-profit organisation working in India for over an year, focusing on alleviating poverty and social injustice. We do this through well planned and comprehensive projects in health, education, livelihoods and disaster preparedness and response. Our overall goal is the empowerment of women and girls from poor and marginalised communities leading to improvement in their lives and livelihoods.
Atithi Foundation has an ambition to strengthen the community through various development projects by fostering self- reliance, self-sufficiency and self-sustained opportunities with available resources. At present 7 boys and girls between the age group of 6 to 20 resides in our childcare centre, Puthur & Tirupati. With the extending support to this Centre by Local Corporates and Hospitals, since last one year. The children in the Centre are being provided with food and accommodation facilities, medical aid, clothes and dresses, coaching in subjects like English, Mathematics, exposures and picnic, teaching aids and all relevant support for education and training. The reasons for farmer’s distress are varied in which the manmade is, very sluggish implementation of government policies and schemes since, it is beyond the reach of farmers to create infrastructural facilities. The major reasons for grievances’ of farmers is mainly the dependency on nature, if the nature is unkind the entire population would be un-happy. The drought occurred since the onset of monsoon has made the situation of farmers more pitiable.The farmers had to face constant dry-spells during rainy season; therefore, the sowing was spoiled and even has to sow seeds twice and thrice. The ATITHI WELFARE ASSOCIATION has given helping hand to the farmers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions for second and third time of sowing in this very critical condition.
A warm smile is the universal language of kindness. A classroom full of smiles from the preschool students in Puttur is one the fondest memory I have volunteering with ATITHI WELFARE. From school boat pick-ups to making paper bag animal puppets to a fun-filled field day, spending time with the most appreciative and happiest children I’ve met was a blessing. I look forward to seeing those smiles again!

My favorite part of the day while volunteering was the boat ride to farming landscapes, picking up the farmer, and seeing them run though the advanced farming techniques with a big smile on their face!
